What does responsibility mean to you? What responsibility do you have for yourself, your family, your job, your business, your community and your Country? It is one of the most misunderstood words, but what does it really mean?
There could be as many meanings as there are people, as we all have our thoughts and duties living side by side; the great thing is, at the moment, we don’t all think the same, although A.I. might have other thoughts in the future.
Some people are thinking of having control over the world’s population as it has been multiplying in recent years; take leaders, for example; a true leader takes responsibility for their team and helps them achieve their goals, but sadly, teams, along with leaders, have been rapidly changing leaving instability and confusion.
Being accountable for what we do is taking responsibility. Still, sadly, that seems to have gone out of the window in every walk of life, starting at the very top, and sadly, there is very little a single person can do about that.
So all we can do is become more responsible for ourselves, our family, and our friends and keep spreading that thought to others we come into contact with to try and mend a broken system before it falls into chaos and anarchy.
If you are in business, teach your staff to take responsibility and to own the opportunity to act independently and make decisions without authorization. Training can take several years, but this can take your company into another league once understood.
Responsibility is not only part of everyone’s job; it encapsulates every part of one’s life and should be an obligation to be taught in our schools and workplaces.
Just take the post office for example; we all knew 20-odd years ago the system was faulty, and after two separate problems were reported, the alarm bell should have been sounded.
Now the PM has gotten involved, and he should have everyone fully compensated within a month, just like they did with hundreds of thousands of businesses in lockdown. No excuses, but we all know it will never happen.
