I learned from my first day in business on 26 September 1974 that business is all about people; now, in 2022, it’s more important today than it’s been in the last 48 years.
There you are, wanting to make money, and there is the customer who wants a great deal or at least reasonable value for their hard-earned money
Then there are all the people in-between that most young business people and I mustn’t forget the megger supermarkets that fail to think about, and if they don’t forget them, they very often feel that they can exploit them.
Not realizing that those forgotten and unloved people will not continue being around forever, but with the right attitude, they could be the golden goose they have always dreamt about to rock their business to heights they never realized it could go.
We have all done it by cutting off our noses to spite our face but to grow a business is to understand that you are not always going to get something for nothing.
Investing in ideas and people to grow your business doesn’t always work. Still, suppose you always avoid investing, thinking you can do it yourself. In that case, you will inevitably keep yourself at a level you don’t want to be because you are too afraid to see value in suppliers of all kinds yet, at the same time, wonder how others are achieving what you can only dream of.
After three years in business, I was fortunate enough to realize that I had to allocate a % of the turnover to just this sort of speculation
So it was never considered wrong or right to be argued over; it was part of the business investment strategy.
If I had started earlier, I probably would have been a multi-billionaire instead of just a multi-millionaire 😉 😉
